Early Prostate Cancer Detectionand Screening Enhances Effective Treatment

Early screening is recommendable to reduce the cost of treatment and to catch prostate cancer at its earlier stages to help eradicate this disease. Effective cancer screenings can help to lower the number of deaths relating to prostate cancer.

It is estimated that there will be a percentage increase of approximately 18.0% on the number of prostate cancer patients during the years of 2020-2021. This is according to the secretary general of the Arab Association of Urology, Prof Dr. Yasser Farahat. Most doctors regard prostate cancer as a silent killer given that it slowly develops without revealing any alarming signs or symptoms. The disease is preventable when found early enough to suppress the growth of cancer cells.

Most countries in America and Europe have developed cancer screening programs that can enable early detection and treatment of the disease. However, in some areas such as the Middle East, cancer screening is still done at an individual level. The amount of lives claimed by prostate cancer in the Middle East cannot be affirmed given the lack of data and proper research carried out.
